Communities

The Boone County Indicators project looks at demographic, social, economic, housing and other indicators to assess the status of, and needs related to, health and human services in the county as a whole and in its major communities. A collaborative effort involving several public and private partners, the project is updated annually.

Decision Support

Building and maintaining roads and other forms of transportation infrastructure is a costly, time-consuming endeavor. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has partnered with OSEDA to identify and analyze relevant social and economic data, and create easy-to-use decision support tools. This allows MoDOT to efficiently and effectively plan and develop roads and other projects. View the MoDOT Social and Economic Indicator Resource tool.

Demographics

In collaboration with the Missouri State Library, other state agencies, and the U.S. Census Bureau, OSEDA operates the Missouri Census Data Center (MCDC). The MCDC’s purpose is to enhance awareness of, and access to, public demographic data, especially that of the Census Bureau. The MCDC is one of the nation’s premier sites for accessing census and other demographic/geographic data.

Collaboration

Collaboration is the hallmark of OSEDA projects. For example, The Missouri Career Exploration Tool is a result of a collaborative effort by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC) and OSEDA to make occupational data readily available to anyone. An easy-to-use interface facilitates searching for short-and long-term occupational projections in hundreds of fields for Missouri as a whole or for 10 regions within the state. Information the tool provides includes educational requirements, wages, and the projected number of openings for each occupation. Click here to view the Missouri Career Exploration Tool.

The Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC) and OSEDA partnered to create the Missouri Entrepreneurship Project to inform Missourians about the characteristics of business owners in their communities. The information is useful to individuals who wish to identify and work with entrepreneurs, as well as to workforce planners, economic developers, researchers, and small business owners.

Education

Dramatically improving student achievement is the goal of the "eMINTS" (enhancing Missouri Internet Networked Teaching Strategies) project, which was created by the University of Missouri. eMINTS aims to inspire educators to use technology-facilitated instructional strategies, engage students with exciting learning, and, enrich teaching itself. OSEDA is conducting a formative evaluation of the project in collaboration with the eMINTS National Center. For additional information: Expanding for a Brighter Future.

The Missouri Senior Report, issued annually, addresses issues of concern not only to seniors, but to every Missourian. The report provides trend data for each county and for Missouri as a whole.
