Parent Involvement Suggestions:
These suggestions are the result of a brainstorming session held at the April 29, 2002 Success Team meeting in Jefferson City. Following a presentation by Practical Parenting Partnership and Parents as Teachers representatives, each regional Success Team discussed strategies to increase parental involvement in their children's education.

Best Practices in Reading:
Federal Programs unit of the Division of School Improvement, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, is announcing "Best Practices: Reading," a website to collect the latest information on reading research and funding opportunities.

Reading is a major emphasis of the State Board of Education's recent publication "Meeting the Challenge." The Board adopted a goal that "every child in Missouri will finish elementary school with a solid foundation of reading and math skills. Our common standard should be 'Every Child will read proficiently by the end of the third grade'".
